Educational Leadership & Research
The Educational Leadership & Research program prepares you to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners. You’ll learn to shape and inform policy, collaborate with stakeholders, build consensus, coordinate institutional services and be accountable for strategic outcomes.

Master of Arts | MA
The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership & Research (MA) has three different concentrations:
- Applied Research, Measurement & Evaluation
- Educational Technology (offered through LSU Online)
- Higher Education Administration (offered on-campus and through LSU Online)
- cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and a combined verbal and quantitative GRE of 297 (verbal: 153; quantitative: 144) is required
- three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your ability to complete graduate work are required. Letters must be written on official letterhead or emailed from a professional email account.
The Applied Research, Measurement, & Evaluation concentration requires 37 hours of credit at the graduate level or a thesis option of 31 hours of coursework plus 6 hours of thesis. For students who choose the thesis option, the 6 thesis hours count in place of the Allied Field courses.
Students who choose the non-thesis option must pass a comprehensive final exam consisting of a series of written questions pertaining to the concentration.

Other approved course that addresses foundations, history, multicultural issues.
ELRC 4006 Introduction to Applied Statistics in Educational Research (3)
ELRC 7010 Principles of Testing and Measurement (3)
ELRC 7220 Education Program Evaluation (3)
ELRC 7243 Qualitative Methods in Educational Research (4)
ELRC 7248 Introductory Research Practicum (3)
Select 2 courses of at least 3 hours each:
ELRC 7280 Content Analysis (3)
ELRC 7290 Seminar: Educational Research Methodology (1-3)
ELRC 7006 Educational Statistics (4)
ELRC 7016 Advanced Educational Statistics (4)
Other approved research courses. You may select research courses from other programs or departments to meet your needs (e.g., policy analysis, statistics, technology, anthropology). (3)
Allied Fields Courses select 2 courses of at least 3 hours each:
Other approved courses from allied field. You may select courses from an allied field (e.g., Curriculum & Instruction, Sociology, Anthropology, Marketing, etc., with approval of your advisor)
ELRC 8000 Thesis Research (1-12 per sem
The Educational Technology concentration requires 36 hours of credit at the graduate level. Students must pass a comprehensive final exam.

The Higher Education Administration concentration requires 36 hours of credit at the graduate level or a thesis option of 30 hours of coursework plus 6 hours of thesis. For students who choose the thesis option, the 6 thesis hours count as elective course hours.
Students who choose the non-thesis option must pass a comprehensive final exam consisting of a series of written questions pertaining to the concentration.
This degree is offered both on-campus and through LSU Online.
