Don't toss it — stock the shop!

April 28, 2026

A quick guide to donating your stuff before you roll out of the dorms.

Finals are almost over, the last Raising Cane's run has been run, and now comes the part nobody loves: packing up everything you somehow accumulated over an entire semester and figuring out what to do with it.

Why not help other Tigers?

Soon, another LSU student will move in with nothing but a suitcase and big dreams. You can be the reason they have a microwave or clothes hangers. That's the whole energy of the LSU Swap Shop.

Drop your items at the designated spot in your lobby during finals week. No forms, no appointments, no hassle. Walk by, drop it off - that's it.

What they actually want

They're not taking everything. But they will take these things — as long as they're clean and gently used:

  • Small Appliances - Microwaves, blenders, coffee makers
  • Furniture - Chairs, desks, small tables
  • Clean bedding - Sheets, pillows, duvets, blankets
  • House supplies - Lamps, trash cans, vacuums, irons
  • Kitchen & bath - Plates, pots, utensils, clean towels

Bring these home (or to the dumpster)

  • Clothing of any kind
  • Custom-made furniture
  • Headboards
  • Mattress pads
  • Anything broken, stained, or dirty

The golden rule: if you wouldn't give it to your roommate, don't leave it for a stranger. When in doubt, take it out.

Now go ace those finals, donate your stuff, and have a great summer. Geaux Tigers. 🐯
