In fact, the majority of LSU students—around 95%—receive scholarships or aid.  College is one of the most important investments you will make in your future, and we'll be here for you every step of the way. 

Below you'll find a variety of resources to help you create a plan that works for you and your family. There are two primary types of financial assistance:

 

FINANCIAL AID

We offer a combination of loans, grants, scholarships and work-study options to help cover the cost of attendance. Filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is your first step to unlocking federal, state, and institutional aid. It's quick, free, and essential—even if you think you might not qualify.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

These are awards you don’t have to pay back—based on academic achievement, talent, financial need, or special interests. Institutional, local, and national scholarships may be available to you.

Important Dates & Deadlines

August 1 

The Fall Undergraduate Application opens. Your admission application is your application for scholarships.
 

Now Open

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens at studentaid.gov. 
 

December 15 Priority Deadline

This is the scholarship priority deadline for first-time, main-campus freshmen. You must submit a completed application to the university through the Common Application by this date to be considered for the competitive scholarship programs.
 

December 15

Priority deadline for completing FAFSA for the following academic year. 
 

April

Transfer students must submit a completed admission application and official transcript(s) on or before April 15 to receive full priority scholarship consideration.
 

June 15th

Priority date to submit FAFSA verification documents to receive financial aid for the Fall semester. 
 

July 1 

Deadline to complete FASFA for TOPS for next academic year
