Supplemental Instruction (SI)
What is SI?
A series of weekly study sessions for historically difficult courses led by peers
who have excelled in the course. SI Leaders guide sessions to focus on what to learn
and how to prepare.
What can I expect?
Benefits
- Perform better in the course
- Typically earn 0.5 letter grade higher in the course when attending 6 or more sessions
- Develop a deeper understanding of course content
- Improve study skills
- Meet peers in course
- Build confidence

SI Session
- Free, voluntary, and open to all students in the course
- The leader attends the class and works closely with the instructor to make sessions relevant to class material
- Not designed to take the place of class but builds on material presented in class
- Collaborate with peers to improve understanding of material
Office Hours
- Get more individualized assistance from the SI leader
- Receive further clarifications on course topics
- Review challenging concepts
- Ask specific questions not addressed during the session
- Check with your SI Leader for dates & times
Office hours are drop-in but due to limited capacity, you may want to reserve a spot.
