LSU undergraduate Alcina DaCosta is developing advanced computer programs using artificial intelligence to allow self-driving cars to tackle the challenges of traffic collisions and greenhouse gas emissions at intersections.

LSU student Gerard Lorio is passionate about his research and persistent in his pursuit of a medical career. Those efforts have culminated in his selection as a Goldwater Scholar, a prestigious honor reserved for only an elite few nationwide.

This year, we shine a spotlight on Daniel Sinopoli, a Ph.D. candidate of the Department of Biological Sciences, working in the Chakrabarty Lab at the LSU Museum of Natural Science, whose passion for fish and commitment to biodiversity are helping redefine our understanding of North America’s freshwater wildlife.
